Tech Tools - My Kit
Web Worker Daily has an interesting post on what they consider a tool kit for an IT worker. I posted mine, but I thought I would share a little more more in depth.
CDs:
I keep both these distro’s with me, since for most tasks, Ubuntu will take care of the job just fine, and it is the distro that I am most comfortable with. BackTrack, has alot of tools built in that can sometimes solve alot of problems (Scanners, forensic tools, etc…)
My USB Keys:
- ZyxXEL USB Wifi Finder and Adapter
- Belkin USB Wireless G Adapter
- 4 Gb USB Flash Drive
- 512 Mb USB Flash Drive
- USB Bluetooth Adapter
I mostly use the ZyXEL, but certain tools like Kismet won’t work with it’s chipset, so I keep the Belkin handy. The 512Mb Drive has all my data and passwords on it. The 4 Gb is for file transfers and contains Windows utilities (ClamWin AV, 7zip, etc…)
Miscellaneous
- My Leatherman Wave
- My datebook/notebook/addressbook (I’ve had 2 pdas. I just never use them)
