Consolidating All My Blogs
When I made the move from hosted blogging to self hosted awhile ago, I left all my original blogs intact. I imported and exported all my posts, but the traffic that my other blogs were getting was pretty good and I knew it would take a while for everything to show up in the search engines at the new sites. Recently though, I’ve been thinking that this was a somewhat short sighted strategy.
Instead of having 1 blog that I care about and update often, my traffic was split between 4 blogs, and my attention was split between two. Initially I did this on the generally accepted wisdom of finding a nitch and sticking to it. And this makes sense if you are looking to monetize your blog. You need to target your audience and define your nitch so the traffic is targeted. But I’ve been thinking alot about what I am actually hoping to accomplish with my blog(s). I am not looking to make money off it, notr do I really have any desire to be a full time blogger.
What I am really looking to accomplish with this site is to write about what I’m interested in. It’s nice that I can share it with others, and in terms of traffic, the more the merrier. But really thisd blog is for me. Not that I don’t like and appreciate everyone reading
So with that in mind, I am going to be closing all the blogs I have except this one. Some of my more relevant posts on Digital Pincushion I will repost here over the coming weeks and that will allow me to really focus on writing content rather then spreading everything thin. What this means is there will be more technology and security related stuff. This will hopefully also mean that I can post more regularly.
