My Must Have Firefox Extensions

One of the really great things about the Firefox web browser is just how extensible it is. Using extensions has really allowed me to make my browsing a much better experience. With all these free extensions available, I am still shocked by how many people don’t actually use extensions. I thought I would list some of the plugins that I really like and use all the time as well as a couple that i haven’t used that frequently, but are just really great ideas.

Must Have Extensions:
- Adblock - Allows you block adds from webpages. Invaluable if you read add heavy pages like anything on Myspace.
- del.icio.us Bookmarks - Use your del.icio.us bookmarks as your bookmarks in Firefox. Keeps all your bookmarks synced and allows tagging within the browser.
- DownThemAll! - Download all the links on the page you are looking at. Intelligently follows links, renames, and let you pick the files by extension.
- Google Notebook - Clip pages from the web. I use this plugin more then any other.
- Stealther - Removes personal information when you browse.
- Greasemonkey - Greasemonkey is actually a tool kit that allows you to run other scripts that change how your browser works.
- Google Secure Pro - A Greasemonkey script that forces Google services to use HTTPS instead of plain HTTP.
Cool Extensions:
- ScribeFire - A blogging plugin that works from right in your your browser. I Haven’t used it that much but am composing this post completely in it.
- Zotero - Sort of like Google Notebook on steroids. More geared towards academic research with the web, but if you do a lot of clipping and note taking on web sources this may be a life saver for you.
