By any other name…
Written by sean on April 24, 2008 – 11:30 am -
I was trolling form my name to keep an eye on the Googlegangers the other day which I do with some regularity and I got a little sidetracked. My name isn’t that common and there isn’t that much movement. My resume over at emurse.com still holds the number one spot and that makes me happy. I’d like to get the blog or the site positioned a bit higher since most people don’t search on me with my middle initial, but all and all it’s not that bad of a ranking when I think of what some more commonly named people have to deal with.
Somehow, the post about a Irish politician always manages to maintain a spot in the top five which is weird.
Regardless, after searching for “Sean Lavelle” I just though I’d try my last name and see what I came up with. I was somewhat surprised with what I found. I knew about Lavelle Rubber Manufacturers in Wisconsin, but there was more!

Google: Why do some of my search results say ‘This site may harm your computer?’
Written by sean on February 25, 2008 – 12:30 pm -The other day, I was searching for some podcasts and I noticed a line under some of the Google search results that said ‘This site may harm your computer?’ If you choose to to continue onto the sight you will need to click through a page making sure you understand the warnings.
I think this is a great feature. Having a centralized place that users can be informed of before they even get to the site and need to rely on there antivirus which everyone should have installed and updated, but often do not.

Now if I could just stop walking into walls…
Written by sean on February 11, 2008 – 10:21 pm -Awhile ago I wrote about how I was having some issues with Google Analytics. Turns out this was a technical problem known in computer circles as an “ID10t” error.
I left the last 2 characters out when I copy/pasted.
