About Me
I'm Sean: webmaster, head writer, editor and CEO of SeanELavelle.com. I've been blogging at several different places, as well as had several failed starts at a home page. Over the last year I came to the realization that as a technology professional, I really needed to claim a piece of the internet as my own. Sadly seanlavelle.com was taken and so I have settled for sean{e}lavelle.com. "Why the curly braces?", you ask. First, I've spent too much of my lilfe around C and Perl. Second, I think it looks good. Let me know if there is any confusion and I'll work on it.
Professional
I've spent most of my professional life around computers. I currently work in network security for JPMorgan Chase Bank. One of the constants over the course of my career is that I am always looking for new challenges. Currently IT Security seems to place my on the bleeding edge of information technology. After having spent 4 years primarily dealing with IT Security, I am constantly surprised with the level and breadth of new challenges that arise almost daily. This is not to say that I have completely focused on security. Keeping a broad knowledge base has always seemed to be the best strategy. Over the course of my career I have worked as :

Personal
Aside from technology, I have several other intersts. I love to read, travel, take pictures, hike, camp and cook. I currently live in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University in 2000 with a BS in Computer Science. I grew up in Avon Lake, Ohio (a suburb of Cleveland).
